RSAS (reports 10/12) says third qtr revs to rise 29 pct

NEW YORK, Oct 4 (Reuters) - RSA Security Inc., (NasdaqNM:RSAS - news) a computer security company, expects to report third-quarter revenues of about $72 million, a 29 percent rise over the same quarter last year, the company said in a release on Wednesday.

RSA also said it expects third-quarter diluted earnings from the company's core operating business to be 24 cents per share, compared to 18 cents per share in the third quarter of 1999. Analysts' consensus estimates according to research firm First Call/Thomson Financial were 23 cents per share for the quarter.

``We exceeded Wall Street expectations for revenues and earnings, and all product lines and geographies were at or above our internal goals,'' RSA president and chief executive Art Coviello said in the release.

Bedford, Mass.-based RSA also said its board of directors has authorised the company to repurchase up to an additional four million shares of its common stock over the next 12 months, to be used for stock options, employee stock purchase, other benefit plans, and general corporate purposes.
