Matthew Geller, analyst at CIBC World Markets, said his opinion on QLT hasn't changed. "The stock has been affected by analysts who didn't listen to the company's guidance in the first place," he said.

This is pretty incriminating, if true. IMO, operating in a vacuum and with very limited data (polling a mere 40 docs?) is a very dangerous m.o., especially in this industry. It's hard to fathom that when presented with their own findings, Url wouldn't have contacted QLT directly and/or polled a larger sample of retinal docs to determine if they had simply encountered a statistical anomaly.

Time will tell.
