Thread - came across a new company called DataPlay, offering a very affordable digital camera with a new 500MB CAPACITY MAGNETIC RECORDABLE MEDIA, called DataPlay discs, which resemble higher-capacity ZIP discs.

Wait a minute - these discs appear to be optical, not magnetic. They resemble Sony MDs.

If these DataPlay discs proliferate, they could take market share away from flash memory (and SNDK). But like all things with moving parts (motors, optics, lasers), its reliability could be questionable.

See link below - comments, anyone? Looks like a "concept" storage media which is looking for venture capital funding in order to get off the ground. Should be quite a formidable task to accomplish their goals - I'd imagine that Sony would be putting a similar spin on their MDs to fill a similar role.
