You should at least feel better than poor Fred. In less than two weeks his paper losses are around $12,000.

Where did Fred's $12,000 go? Why nowhere! This is not a zero sum game. The money has literally ceased to exist.

A boring Treasury Bill would have made a small profit that is guaranteed in that time and all of his capital would still be right there.

We live and learn.
