i think you're right about the hedge play but be careful shorting now. lgnd almost always rallies sharply from fall to spring (as do other biotechs) and my indicators (BOP, MS) are starting to perk here. check the long term chart for lgnd and you'll see sharp fall rallies in fall of 99 and 00.
