Phoenix quick definition: A stock which has a chart pattern which clearly demonstrates that it is trending higher during the same 10 day, 20 day or 30 period where the index to which the stock belongs is trending lower.

In other words, we couldn't call a Dow stock a Phoenix, because it rose while the Naz sold off. And 10 days or less of this pattern is a Baby Phoenix, whereas 30 days of this pattern is a Grand Daddy Phoenix.

Hope that helps clarify things some.
