What I want to see is AMD making an outrageous amount of money. This idea of holding someting in reserve doesn't really make sense to me. If AMD can increase ASP with higher GHz processors then they should do so.

And if it means that AMD has to ship 1.5GHz a few months before Intel then so be it. Why not capitalize on the media attention it would generate?

AMD may reckon that limited quantities of higher GHz systems would damage their lower end sales, but that doesn't make much sense either, given that the majority of Intel systems are below AMDs low end now. Supply and demand should maintain AMD's "low end" ASPs for them.

No, either the article has no factual basis, or I have to deduce that AMD are not as confident about their ability to ship 1.5GHz as we have been speculating.
