Dear Cheryl: Releasing 30m barrels from the strategic reserve in order to lower prices does not strike me as part of a coherent strategy. It looks more like a desperation-move. It was an EXCELLENT POLITICAL strategy if you are supporting the Clinton/Gore Administration et al. Hopefully it will backfire as its coming out now how ridiculous it was. NONE of it will be utilized for heating oil and much of it will actually replace oil orginally destined for USA and rerouted to EUROPE where it can be sold for more. So, it basically means USA got nothing and gave up 30mm barrels from its STRATEGIC RESERVE. Hope the public wakes up to realize these people will stop at NOTHING to stay in power. JDN
