I was at Mr. O'Neill's investment seminar once - for those of you who are not familiar with O'Neill -- he is the owner of Investment Business Daily and he frequently gives investment seminars. Anyway, Mr. O'Neill pulled out a chart and suggested that a particular stock was very weak -- slow down in revenue/earning ...etc -- you got the picture -- at the time it was a stock that I owned and I was at the stage of deciding hold or sell. I sold. The stock, my friend, is CSCO. I could have made tons of money if I have not listened to Mr. O'Neill. By the way, Bill, since you are citing Mr. O'Neill, you must know his maximum % of loss -- 7% -- yes, Mr. O'Neill said if you ever lost 7% from the price you bought, you must sell. The truth of the matter is, no one knows. All systems work -- sometimes -- and sometimes if you are terribly lucky, your system seems to be so right that you think you can do no wrong. Should one hold Cube or should one sell? That is the question for the Cube long's -- I am one among them -- however, a generalized statement such as one cited from Mr. O'Neill will not do. I have since learned not to listen to expert(s). Every situation is different. Tell those who held IBM at the 40's that they should cut their loss 2 years ago -- every situation is different. There are several things I am looking at right now -- one being the monthly short numbers. I remember someone said here that this info is now available from the Net. Would someone be so kind to post that link again? Bill, no offense. Regards. |
