What are you talking about? There are no new compilers necessary for McKinley. It's all IA-64.


Are you sure? I thought the philosophy of EPIC was to tie the compiler to not only the architecture, but also the microarchitecture. If the compiler isn't microarchitecture aware, how is it supposed to optimize for cache use and number of registers and number of execution units and pipeline length and so forth?

When those things change, doesn't the compiler need to know?
