Meathead, We all know Intel is a lot larger than AMD, but AMD has scaled the mountain first since all the Intel products were recalled or vaporware.
Dominance is a complex thing. A small army can dominate a far larger technically inferior force. In the same way AMD has the high ground and it also has quite a period of time to exploit it as AMD is advancing even as Intel tries to catch up. Intellect and not only manpower can win this game. Intel has no lock on smarts....in fact the Intel culture may have shifted to the point where it crushes creativity and Intel may be doomed and not know it yet.
The new P-4 might well turn out to be a failure....already postponed again and again. The AMD hammers series may be able to exploit this, esp with the x86 backwards compatibility.
Will the new Intel parts win?? Dog nose.
Do not fall into the trap of believing the sun rises only for Intel...it also sets for Intel and we may be watching the decline of Intel into the sunset(Carrying Mikey Dell in it's arms).
AMD has server parts under active development, rome was not built in a day and AMD is carefully making sure those parts spring into existence as fully capable parts with no Intellian errors and omissions.
Dell needs to get a parallel supplier on stream ASAP.
