but from day 1, PCLN ran counter to the concept of what the net means for the consumer - to remove middlemen. Who the hell needs a PCLN when you can walk to a Buick dealer with a briefcase of unmarked $20's and offer to buy "that car" for "this much" money. In even a crappy economy, who has the leisure time or wants to save 20 dollars to book an airline flight when you have to agree to fly at 3am? And what in world do gas stations need pcln for? They sell every gallon they can get anyway? Should have never been public, and the big deal on their patented business method is absurd. The original underwriters and prostitute analysts who hyped it ought to be thrown in jail. How many times did we see supposidly leading fund managers get on cnbc and say it should be a "core" holding for internet exposure? Where do they get these clowns? Other than that, I have no opinion. Let's see CNBC bring back some of those dingleberries and ask them what they were smoking.
