Hello fellow Blind Squirrels. It seems the SEC has been out
and about nailing our nuts to the ground (some of them anyway -
GRNO comes to mind) and then building a cage around them to
keep the squirrels out! An anti-squirrel cage. Bully for them!
I have to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they
are acting in the best interests of investors because of
honestly perceived errors and/or misdeeds on the part of
management and/or promotors of stocks. I hope the step-up in
the number of investigations is properly motivated and not the
result of bureaucratic butt-kissing or political vote-seeking,
or even worse, another "I know what's best for you" exercise in
"cradle to grave" liberal utopianism.

Of the investigations I have heard of, GRNO seems to be the
least offensive target, not exactly a Bre-X or GIFS, but
nonetheless a target for some still not explicitly stated
reasons.

If nothing else, we may learn a few new ways to perform the
dreaded "Due Diligence". Maybe there is a business opportunity
here for providing expanded DD to investors; among other
things, disecting published data and checking backgrounds of
the principals involved in attracting investor money. Hmmmm.
Sounds like what the SEC does, except that the service would be
provided prior to an investment instead of after a scam or
fraud is well underway and complaints start pouring in from the
bilkees. It may also provide a small source of encouragement
to companies to be more aware of who they hire, what they do,
and how they go about it. Maybe call it SCAMFINDERS or
SCAMBUSTERS or MAGNUM, DDI (I hereby claim copyright and/or
trademark ownership on all of the aforementioned names). :)

Comments and discussion solicited, serious or otherwise.
