I thought differently about my post a few hours later. The GX multiplexed the data lines while have individual control lines. So it wasn't a full quad channel chipset.

The GX interleaved the memory, permitting more open banks and indefinite streaming.

Rambus is actually a subset of the functionality of such a motherboard in many ways. Say, what does that do to the prior art issue...
