Cheney didn't have style- he had substance, the first we've seen. He had knowledge, experience, confidence, and presence. I didn't know him at all before the debate, and I was blown away. He never slipped. HIs weakest answers will probably be considered the race profiling and the gay rights(and frankly, I didn't find them weak- I thought the QUESTIONS were weak- Lehrer was taken to task for not asking a race question and Gore chided for not injecting the race issue into his answers even if he wasn't asked) I thought Cheney's mentioning of states' rights on the gay issues was consistent with their view of less fed intervention. He had wit and quickness and grace. CHeney for President? Too late?
