A very good point. A person can die the day before they qualify for social security and there are no benefits unless the widow is the right age. There is no estate for your family. With the 2% that can be invested in the private sector it will grow, once a good base is built, nearly exponentially. They say the compounding of interest in an additional wonder of the world. I can give you a personal example. I don't mean to be immodest but this is my true story. When IRA's came in somewhere in the mid 70's I started putting the 2000. per year into it. When the law was changed in 1986 to where if you make "x" amount of money you couldn't put the money in before taxes I stopped excepting for one additional year. So, I put around 22000. into it. It is now worth over 200000.. It has been in the market all this time and, admittedly, in a very aggressive growth stock style investment. I also have a 401K and we are restricted to qualified mutual funds. That would be the more conservative and appropriate method of investment of the 2%. We, if we could live to see it, would have some very wealthy young people when they reach 65 or whatever the age might be. And, they would have an estate no matter when they die because the money is theirs, not the governments. A very big difference. Vote for Bush.
