"Mr. Cheney said education is the most important issue of
the campaign. He said he and Mr. Bush want to return the
nation's public schools to their former glory. But he said there
has been no progress on reading scores in the last eight years
and "almost no progress on math."........................as a member of the medical school admissions of my university for 0ver 10 years, there has been no drop off in the quality of applicants, in fact there was a steady increase in applications from 1989 to 1998 with small declines the last two years. The students from 92 colleges have been accepted this year and make up one of the brightest classes ever.......our education system is more than adequate. The teachers are not solely to blame,....it's time to look at the parents and the kids themselves. The educational opportunities are there for all......anyone rich or poor can go to medical school, something which few nations can offer.
