I do not know if my OI numbers are correct, I have to look into it over the weekend.

The other advantage of holding SPY is getting dividends, but one does not have to wait for an uptick to short SPY. It is exempt from that rule, as is QQQ.

Also, too, I doubt it is necessary to carry SPY for a large institution. Really, whet would be prudent is merely to carry GE, MSFT and several other supercaps on the SPX.

Which begs the question, perhaps there was a huge drop on one or two of the large cap SPX stocks this morning to clobber it, I do not know.
