Praxair Inc plant expansion opens in Louisiana NEW YORK, May 21 (Reuter) - Praxair Inc, the largest industrial gas company in North and South America, said Wednesday it opened a new hydrogen plant and pipeline at its industrial gas facility in Geismar, La. The new 34-mile pipeline from Geismar to Baton Rouge, La., will supply an Exxon Corp refinery and a 70 million cubic feet per day steam methane reforming hydrogen plant will support the industrial gas needs of Exxon, Rubicon Inc and other customers, it said. Rubicon is a joint venture between Imperial Chemical Industries PLC and Uniroyal Chemical Co. Praxair said it added eight new full-time positions at the Geismar facility, raising employment at the plant to 80. The plant started operting in 1971 and became part of Praxair's operations following its acqusition of CBI Industries Inc in 1996.
