In fact Lieberman's opening remarks were brilliant. He neutralized potential negative attacks coming from Cheney by saying that he would not make personal attacks. Cheney was stuck with no other option but to stay positive. IMO, Cheney should have pounded Gore on the embellishment issue, but don't have the guts. Bush/Cheney don't have the guts to talk about Bill Clinton's behaviour. Bush/Cheney don't have the guts to talk about the impeachment process. Bush/Cheney are loosing little guts they have by being forced not to attack Gore. Playing sissy and kissing baby's worked fine for dubya during the primaries. But now it is time to grow up. Politics is fun. Don't know why many people hate it.
