I certainly would. He was attacked without any foundation, punished for crimes he did not commit, and locked up in the Chateau d'If prison for over a decade. In that time, he met the Abbe Faria, a brilliant and amiable scholar, who educated him and became his dear friend. While dying, he bequeathed a vast treasure upon the young Dantes, his only remaining friend. In the eyes of the Abbe, Dantes had earned the right to that treasure through his devotion and loyalty to the Abbe, whom he regarded as one would a father.

I would warn you to immediately retract the statement you made and to express your regrets to me personally, in public here at SI. If you do not do this now, legal action against you will be the direct consequence of your public deceit.
