Gottfried, RE: Reading the threads I see a lot of that averaging down. I don't know how prevalent it is, though, because more savvy investors tend not to post as much [with exceptions to this rule].

It's true, I myself fall in the category of Averagers because I do not care whether my purchases are at the Bottom or at the Top --- all I believe is that AMAT will always go Up (until AMAT is eaten by a bigger fish or Chips find a way to clone themselves, which in the latter case I believe won't happen for the rest of my life). This I make it plain when I describe that the AMAT Staircase Construction Workers are there to build never ending Risers and Steps broken only by Landings on top of which they again build Higher Risers and Steps. No tearing down of any part of the StairCase --- always adding and adding and adding. I just add the AMAT YoYo Kid in the scene (being portrayed as always a Kid as long as the company doesn't grow as big as those companies whose stocks don't move much anymore) as one who always play on those Steps and Landings going down the lower steps as low as -63% like in 1996.

To average further down, I sell some on the way Up (YoYo catch), and with the proceeds I then buy more on the way Down (YoYo Drop).

What I notice also thru the Posts in this Thread is that one who buys lower or at the bottom tends to sell way much earlier than one who buys much higher.
