WASHINGTON, Oct 6 (Reuters) - Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Co. (NYSE:MWD - news) on Friday filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to sell, on occasion, up to $20 billion in debt securities, units, warrants, purchase contracts and preferred stock.
It plans to use the proceeds from the shelf offering for general corporate purposes, including working capital, redeeming outstanding preferred stock, repurchasing of outstanding common stock and debt repayment, the firm said in an SEC filing.
Shares of the New York-based investment bank closed down $7-14/16 to $84-1/16 on the New York Stock Exchange.
