PSIX vs. GBLX
Here is a response I received from Psinet Investor relations. I had asked them about the total number of data centers presently open and whether the goal of 24 would be reached by year end.
Here is the response I recv. from Kevin Libby.
"Curtis,
We have 9 hosting centers up and running today with Seoul scheduled to open very soon. That makes for about 587,000 gross square feet. We anticipate the 9 to be 14 at year end, about 1M square feet, with 4 more in 2001, with a total of nearly 1.3M.
With regards to GBLX, EXDS purchased 10 centers that were mostly collocate and, I believe, only about 300K or so of space. That isn't alot for $6.5B. In fact, it averages about $650M per center. They only cost about $65M for a large one over 100K square feet.
However, EXDS also got preferred rates on the GBLX network. We've stated all along that if you want to be in the hosting center business you need a network. EXDS said you didn't. EXDS changed their mind. Why? Because we were right and they knew it. I wonder if they'll buy a consulting company next?
The web hosting revenues for the second half are expected to be, as stated 9-15, 9% to 11% of the $920M to $960M of revenue. That is about $82M to $106M. We did about $50M in the first half of 2000.
Hope that helps. "
