Paul, thread, from a Fortune magazine, on-line, some pretty surprising (to me) numbers on percentage of revenue from Intel based computers, by the top 5 PC makers. Surprise #1 to me would be 18% of IBM's overall business being Intel based. That would be almost $16 billion. Do I believe that much from IBM? Intel PCs, Netfinity and NUMA servers don't seem that large for IBM. Or is the 18% Intel based the percentage of IBM's computer only sales (not including storage, services, technology, etc.)? The other surprise is the article says 85% of Gateway's business is Intel based computers. Do they mean Intel compatible, or Intel period? If it's the latter, Gateway is kidding themselves with their crusade of using more AMD vs. Intel. The Dell, HP and Compaq numbers look reasonable to me, unless, again, the percentages relate to computers only. The article could have provided more detail.
