Ted, Re: But it is a trailing indicator. By one week....the report was for Sept. That's not what I meant. I think hiring and firing decisions trail the state of the businesses (on the micro scale) and the state of the economy (on the macro scale). The current state of the affairs is that many businesses have to turn business away because of the lack of employees. Many businesses continue to look for employees even if they experience a slowdown, because everybody thinks the slowdown is temporary. I think the lag may be 3 months easily. Joe
