Frank, this is huge news! For CNN and USA Today to admit a huge Bush rally this near the election, could signal a landslide. It looks like our perceptions of the debate were right on the money. The pompous sanctimonious WhopperAl, didn't connect with the American people like the honest sincere George Bush did.
I noticed headline news (which has been running every Gallup poll which showed a Gore lead at the top of the news hour for some time) has yet to mention it.
I can't wait to see on November 8th, Dan Rather describe how the American voting public had another "temper tantrum". :)
________________________________________________________ Presidential preference poll usatoday.com
USA TODAY, along with CNN and the Gallup organization, will release each day through Nov. 7 results of a continuing presidential preference poll. Each day's results are based on responses from the three preceding days. Results will be updated daily at about 5 p.m. ET. The poll's margin of error is +/- 4 points.
Saturday's results: Texas Gov. George W. Bush took a seven point lead over Vice President Al Gore following last week's debate, 48% - 41%. Gore led Bush by one point as of Thursday, but he has lost a huge lead he had earlier in the week. Bush's improvement can be credited to his performance in Tuesday's presidential debate, as he received strong support in poll surveys taken Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This weekend's poll results, based on surveys taken entirely after Tuesday's debate, give a good measure of the true effects of the candidates' first face-to-face meeting.
Poll question for likely voters: If the presidential election were held today and included Al Gore and Joe Lieberman as the Democratic candidates, George W. Bush and Dick Cheney as the Republican candidates, Pat Buchanan and Ezola Foster as the Reform Party candidates, and Ralph Nader and Winona LaDuke as the Green Party candidates, for whom would you vote |
