tiguer, you obviously are not someone who works replacing lights in offices and public buildings.

While it wouldn't be bad even in the home, the real significance of the light bulb connection is in the public arena as in street lights, overhead lights in ampitheaters, stadiums, terminals, auditoriums, etc, where maintenance crews routinely have to scan for burnt lights, sometimes 30 or more feet high and where routine replacement of all bulbs is done because it is so difficult to determine when one will burn out. Believe me it can be a big problem. It also relates to inventory maintenance and production by the likes of GE who will have a direct handle on need and usage.
