Why a company would buy another company is an area where I feel I have no expertise. The penetration of this kind of media is in it's infancy. In my opinion the experts at sun and hp believe in their own inventions. I don't think sgi fits either. Other companies may not see or understand? But the streaming media in general is way ahead of current broadband penetration. Also the pervasive msft pig OSes may not have sufficient power on even today's hardware for the streaming video and doing something else. So some more more's law increases may still be required. I was looking at sun's presentations and my nt machine went to la la land for 10 seconds for some reason in the middle of the presentation.
