lurq-

agreed. the 52wk low line is about to go screaming upward. the present market may well bring it down when they meet.

the commercial short interest doesn't scare the pants off me. they are in a position that many have no choice but to buy insurance (shorts and puts).

my main historical interest in the market is the annual pattern of growth and decline. 3 of the 4 bear market bottoms appear to be in the same time of year (late summer - early fall). perhaps that's why they call it fall. and the great majority of the growth periods in all the years represented are concentrated in the late fall to early spring period. i believe there are several reasons for this. i.e., things that occur every year at this time that are tied to money flow... and consequently market growth/decline.

1)end of old, beginning of new fiscal year for US government. (sept. 30th, i believe)
2)holiday sales and shopping season. (nov., dec.)
3)end of year bonuses (dec)
4)many businesses fiscal year ends and new begins (dec 31)
5)many individual tax refunds (jan)
6)most IRA funding occurs for prior year (jan - apr. 15)
7)individual income tax deadline (apr. 15)

BWDIK?
