Vice President Gore, in a conference call with reporters covering his campaign for president, was pressed to explain recent instances of exaggerations which the Bush campaign has cited as evidence Gore cannot be trusted.

Asked if he was displaying a pattern of embellishments of his record, Gore said Saturday: ``No. They're making a sustained personal, negative attack of a kind that they resort to when the American people disagree with them on the issues.''
