The wild card is Syria Iraq and Iran, and their hatred for western values and culture. It is all dependent on US and Western Europe not on the Israelis or Arafat.
Arafat is just a coward as is Husseini and Hannan Ashrauy (spl?) nothing more, they started the violence to cover the internal corruption of the present leadership. Most aid money disappeared in their coffers in various bank accounts overseas, and the populous took notice, over the last several months, their news papers were filled with complains about the corruption.
BTW Arabs killed two Israelis 2 days before Sharon legitimate visit to the Temple Mount, one of them was a medic who rushed to save a wounded soldier, as he arrived they detonated the second explosive ...... oh well in accordance with International Law and then retreated into Gaza.
Wish those Arabs would have a different leadership as there are some smart people between them who have western education are realistic more moderate and have their people well-being at hearth.
I can understand that many in the US and other Western Countries have difficulty to understand the conflict, but it is a cultural and social clash between the West and the Orient, it is millennium old since the Templars and other Crusaders were in the Holy Land.
During the middle ages Jews lived in peace and cooperation with the Arabs and the Spanish Inquisition burned them to the stake, after Jews assimilated to the Western Culture the Arabs hate them. Those are the basic facts of the conflict
Those deep differences I experienced first hand.
20 years ago I believed in cooperation and purposely employed Arabs from Gaza, paid them as I paid all workers, trained them on my expense, sheltered them against the then existing rules (not having the proper papers) and wen I felt ill a year later, they robbed my business at a time I was in emergency care in the hospital. Why? mentality issue, he is dying so why not take what we can.
If comparing to the US or other Western nations, any illegal emigrant caught will be incarcerated and deported to their home land. Israelis seldom have done so.
The truth and the talking heads on the Networks are quite different issue.
Until the Arabs will not accept western culture and stop hating it, there is a slim chance of peace in the ME.
Unfortunate little is brought to the news about other similar cultural clashes like in Kashmir which are far more dangerous that the ME, there all tri parties have nuclear weapons (Pakistan, India, China) or even the China Taiwan conflict.
As a general comment, for pure anti-Semitic reasons it is easier to concentrate on Israel and not on Kashmir or Iran/Iraq/Kuwait/Saudia Arabia who are much more dangerous flash points than the present conflict in the news.
