Yahoo rumors about NTOP and T.

I have not been posting on Yahoo but do sometimes read it. A rumor seems to be going around about NTOP that came out near the end of after-hours trading on Friday and does not yet seem reflected in the price. What I mean is there has been no movement upward of the price for no reason. NTOP had a horrible day Friday despite lots of good things in the earnings call the night before.

Further, I am passing this on only to start a discussion on SI. There is no reason people should accept a rumor as true but it may be worth talking about what facts and speculations militate for or against such a possibility. I remind everyone that T is in a crisis mode with a very low stock price and many options being considered to add shareholder value. Hints remain that both NTOP and IDTC are frozen from releasing much news while waiting to see what options T chooses. Fair enough?

This is my first post on this topic in any medium. As a disclaimer, I no longer do any work for AT&T and do not ever expect to do any more but I technically remain on the payroll. I do own substantial amounts of T, NTOP and other stocks that may be related such as IDTC and Liberty Media.

If I understand it, the rumor was started by a poster on the AT&T board. It boils down to a suggestion that T may try to buy the remainder of NTOP is some way by buying the remaining IDTC shares and the float for $75.

The post was: messages.yahoo.com

You can read the follow up for yourself and it includes suggestions that some news was supposed to come out but was suppressed, that T was buying NTOP shares in the market and so on. The followup messages by the same poster add details such as insisting the buyout price was as high as $75. I am not saying any of this is true, just letting people know where to look and then judge if it has any credibility.

This was followed up by discussion on the NTOP and IDTC boards that you can choose to read as well.

I will refrain from making further comments until others have had a chance to weigh in, if they choose.

I point out that this is not just of interest to NTOP shareholders. IDTC would get lots of cash, if true, that they can not tell us what they are doing with. This might open up the doors for a better disclosure all around so we should care if anything like this might be coming.

Again, I am just bringing an existing rumor to your attention. Savvyguru did it with no response except mine.
