right you are. and it's easily viewable. it's where we go to set the drive sleep. with the disk inserted, open explorer. right-click your removable disk drive and choose properties. the 'disk' tab will give you the serial number. (and btw, this number did NOT coincide with the error message request number.) the diagnostics tab offers a test, but i've always been a bit skeptical about the integrity of that <g3>. Ok, time to tell me the secret.<G> On another computer, I have an internal zip drive. I clicked on window explore, right-click on the removable disk drive, choose properties. The disk tab told me it was a zip 100. Somewhere on-line I read that if you reformat the disk the serial numbers are removed but not sure if that is valid. I was not able to find a diagnostics tab. Did you download something from Iomega? This computer is as Dell set it up without me having added much. I think the drivers are built into windows now .
