"But that's just my opinion."

Not to be rude, but since when has your opinion factored in the historical accuracy as to whether "abortion", pre-quickened or post-quickened, was a crime?

That was the entire point of this exchange we've been going through is that you made the ludicrous claim that when our country began there was no prohibition against abortion.

Since I have provided you any number of links that prove THAT THERE WAS A PROHIBITION against abortion, I would think you would just admit that you're wrong so we can go to the next topic of discussion.

I simply don't care whether it was morally right or wrong at that time since we have no right to misinterpret history.

History (pardon the pun) is in the past, and we have every duty to properly interpret it and not revise it to suit our personal modernistic or "enlightened" beliefs.

Clearly English common law prohibited post-quickened abortion on pain of death from the 13th century through 1837. That is not to say that abortions didn't occur, but I can pretty much assume that they were neither performed openly or admitted to by women.

But then if we relied upon men to get pregnant, and carry pregnancies to term, the human race would have ended long ago.

Thus I assume since women are the only reason that the human race exists, males can absolve themselves of all responsibility for the results of our existence, right?

I kinda like that...
