With the magnitude of the "meltdown" of the semi-equips during the past 5 weeks, the group is fast approaching the magnitude of the slide from the peak values in 1997 to October of 1998. The following table shows a comparison of the 2 periods. Observe the totals, the group was down 76 percent in 97/98 compared to 59 now. The SOX-X was down 50 percent in 97/98 compared to 40 now.
