Again, if the DoD was unhappy with Iridium service, and it just didn't work.. Then I fail to see the logic in a contract of this magnitude, six months after commercial service launch! I would think that the six months was sufficient time to "test" the system.. Wouldn't you agree??
Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, Poland, Hungary and some others in E. Europe, plus most of the Caribbean.. All heavily GSM covered countries.. Obviously, Iridim saw a better value with their licenses in India, Micronesia, and SE Asia.. I think you would trade the above countries in a swap?? NO?
< In several key markets, including N. America, Australia and Brasil, it's apparent that G*'s distribution network and local "presence" is vastly superior to Irid's.>>
Is it?? Only 13,000 subs as of last count.. I would judge the effectiveness of the distribution network and local "presence" by their performance! As TallBlonde can attest to.. At this juncture, Sat Telephony is a Very Niche Market.. Requiring a dedicated trained Sales Force. Your not going to get a lot of action out of a kiosk at your local mall.. Point of Sale presence is ineffective. You have to send troops out into the streets.
