Hi;
Your assessment is correct. The scoring summaries from both series seems reversed; not-with-standing the fact that Roy and Vernon are excellent goalies.
The Flyers don't need the rest the TV timeouts are giving them. They are just physically wearing down the Rangers. The extra days off here may help the Rangers get game 4, but then game 5 is only 36 hours later. So even if it's 2-2, the Flyers have a home game for game 5, and the Rangers will be exhausted.
Leetch must be hurting. He didn't play on all the power plays, and when he did, he wasn'y shooting with any authority. With Driver not as strong a shot as he used to have, and karposav in Russia for a funeral, they have no scoring from the defensemen. Sure makes it tough to crash the net around Hextall when no one can shoot the puck to the net.
Maybe a miracle from Messier for game 5 will help, assuming they win game 4.
Been hearing that Graves will be reunited with messier, with Tikennen taking over the Lindros checking duties. Not sure if he's big enough, although he definitely is enough of a pest. <gg>
Cairns is not much of a skater, but they are working with him. He's a big, stron dude, who isn't afraid to get involved with anyone. He will get a good shot to make the squad next year, if he improves his skating game. He's not a scorer, but his puck handling has vastly improved from the beginning of this year. I saw him a couple of times in Binghampton earlier this year. His game now is more skilled, but he has a ways to go.
