Tom, I bought a truck/race trailer-hauler Wednesday am in Omaha(a guy has to diversify;>)) and drove it back along I-90. Got home Friday afternoon. If Greenspan thought the wealth effect was out of control, he would have felt differently if he would have gone with us on the drive. I went through a few towns where mobile and trailer homes easily outnumbered any other residence. I am not trying to be funny, but most of the folks we ran into along the way had more fingers than teeth.

It would be really neat to have accurate figures on who in hell was getting wealthy besides the folks here on SI. It had been years since I drove the highways and was a real wake up call. I see the poverty in Kauai too, but it never sinks in since it is a paradise. It was about 9 degrees in Butte on Thursday.Police scanners are still big entertainment back there. These folks have it very tough. And if there was a trickle down effect the last few years, I think the stream is in danger of drying up.
