Edit: P.S. I don't believe THAT was the motivator

What? The motivation was the "re-inventing government" program.

But what is dirty is that the bids were secret and STILL HAVE NOT BEEN RELEASED, which is NOT how you manage the public sale of Federally owned property. What we don't know, and neither do those other companies who competed for the privatization is whether Occidental actually was the highest bidder, or whether they were given an opportunity to beat the highest competing bid.

This was the BIGGEST SALE of federally owned oil reserves. Reserves which were established in the early 1900s.

Why is it that people go out of their ways to make excuses for Al Gore?

Is it that they just can't believe any of this was deliberate? Or is it that Gore penchant for re-inventing himself is contagious among his supporters.

What does someone have to do.. Slap you guys across the face with the facts before you accept them?

<sigh>
