Dear Ken: Did you also notice HIGHER HIGHS and HIGHER LOWS. haha. Honestly Ken, you have got yourself all worked up over this. Guess what, I WAS THERE during the bear market you are talking about. If you really want to feel good about your attitude this may help, I first started investing in 1967. I was fortunate in that a very good friend of mine also worked in a large brokerage firm right next door to my office. He would call me up and tell me about the NEXT GREAT THING and I would buy. Can you believe by about 1971 or so I had made enough money that I could have retired then at the ripe old age of 27 or so? Well, along came the big bear you speak of, and I LOST IT ALL. See, arent you feeling better already. haha.
But, the difference is I was SPECULATING in what would be considered small cap stocks today, I learned from that though and began INVESTING in quality large cap firms which fulfilled a need. I believe internet infrastructure firms such as EMC and SUNW qualify as of course do many others. The economy may go up and it may go down but it is my judgement the internet will CONTINUE ON REGARDLESS. This is an absolute necessity for continual gains in efficiency. Also the need for and use of data will only grow expontentially as broad band services expand and become cheaper. I think those of us invested in the proper internet infrastructure companies will continue to do very well in the long term, and long term is how I invest. JDN
