Oliver - I do not intend to imply that laws are irrelevant, but rather the definition of "free speech" is somewhat different on a controlled forum. Hate speech, for example, is protected in many public forums in this country, but is banned on SI. I am well aware that SI has allowed "controlled" - read censored - speech here since April through the introduction of so-called "moderated" threads. I have vociferously protested this policy to SI Admin. It is disgraceful. Furthermore, the last time I checked, speaking the truth was not banned at SI, however some members would wish it were. Why don't you try spending your energy elsewhere for a while and see if this current fixation does not turn out to be a tempest in a teapot? I wonder. We shall certainly see, won't we? Concerning the rest of your post, aside from your boast about your net worth, which is irrelevant, I would say that I appreciate one of the few thoughtful passages we have seen here in some time.
