Ken, this morning's semiconductor news is mixed. <Dataquest reports that chip sales for the year will come in higher than anticipated -Chip sales could rise to 37% from initial expectations of 31% -Dataquest further reports that chip sales might be slower over next 2 years, followed by moderate decline by 2003 -Chip stocks are trading to the upside this morning -However, according to the analyst at Salomon Smith Barney who covers INTC and AMD, chip brokers indicate that chip demand remains soft -SSB analyst suspects that INTC may cut prices ahead of its anticipated date as INTC chips are selling at largest discount to list prices -SSB analyst also expects AMD to cut prices as early as this week to make room for new chips coming out.> Sergio
