ATLANTA, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- o2wireless Solutions, Inc. OTWO, a leading provider of integrated services to the global telecom industry, announced today an agreement in which o2wireless will provide engineering design and systems integration support services to Netro Corporation's channel partners and service provider customers worldwide. The agreement will provide Netro's AirStar(TM) system customers greater resources for supporting rapidly growing deployments of fixed broadband wireless networks globally.
"The manpower available through o2wireless can be used to augment the technical staffs of our own channel partners and service provider customers, adding breadth and depth for global deployments," said Mike Everett, Netro's executive vice president and CFO. "In fact, o2wireless already has a strong relationship with one of our largest customers and has demonstrated its expertise in the planning, design and deployment of wireless networks."
o2wireless will provide RF and network engineering design as well as equipment installation and commissioning services while acting as a supplementary technical resource to resellers/systems integrators and wireless operators utilizing Netro AirStar equipment. The company has already assisted Netro, its channel partners and service provider customers with planning, designing, installation, commissioning, system testing and training in the U. S., Europe and Australia.
As part of the agreement, o2wireless and Netro will jointly develop a standardized demonstration and pilot system for more rapid deployment of AirStar equipment. o2wireless will also customize its design and deployment processes and procedures as well as its proprietary Virtual Project Manager and E-Site software to support rapid deployment of commercial systems.
"As a customer-focused organization, Netro is taking the extra step to ensure that qualified resources exist for designing and deploying fixed broadband wireless networks for voice, IP and high speed data applications," said Mike Riley, president and COO of o2wireless. "As a complementary technical services provider, we look forward to building strong relationships with Netro channel partners and service provider customers worldwide."
The agreement also calls for o2wireless to expand its role as the AirStar equipment training provider. Training is ongoing at Netro corporate offices in San Jose, Calif., and at customer locations, with plans for o2wireless to open a European training facility in 2001.
