ROFL

NICE change of topic. Another smoke screen lover I see. Gosh throw me another red herring and I won't need to eat lunch.

NOT that it's relevant but:

I supported returning Elian to his father. The level of force involved in his apprehension was a judgment call and I am not inclined to second guess the government in this instance- since I do not know what information they had in their possession. However the government had the reason for using force handed to them by that family, who boasted they would never turn Elian over (without a fight, if I recall). Obviously the family seriously misjudged the strength of the opposing side.

FWIW- I read up on asylum law to follow that case. The government has amazing powers to apprehend illegal aliens (what Elian was after his parole was revoked). If you do not agree with those powers, you need to change the laws- bearing in mind that this will have consequences all over the US and especially along the US/California and Texas border.

Now that we've discussed that COMPLETELY tangential issue, shall we discuss the Balkans? Race relations? Women having the vote? The McCarthy hearings?
