Bambs,

I think this is why many here don't value your opinions from a technology perspective. I do think you have a basis for your arguments ecomically speaking but this latest post in response to "fiber to the home" demonstrates that you could spend a little more time doing some due diligence.

you're comment...

Sounds fantastic...Too bad I will have to sell my family car so I can pay for fiber to my home

You won't spend a dime. Did you spend any money when the MSO's were running cable to your neighborhood?

Great ideas...will they be
profitable for those that spend the money to put it into action? How much are people willing to pay for the bandwidth?

I've had this discussion with telecomguy too. It seems that many folks are still rooted in this "pay for bandwidth" mentality. Do you pay for the bandwidth for your telephone? Or for your television stations? No. You pay for the services which in turn pay for capital infrastructure. Since fiber has more capacity the providers will be able to bring many new services to your home and they will charge for them. It's not a pay for bandwidth model in the future - it's a pay for services model.
