Direct connection to content using a wireless handheld as if it were a PC in the US - no web surfing.

But can't CDMA / HDR (1xEV) permit similar direct access?

Dr J has long said WAP is not essential if CDMA is used, if I understood correctly.

Is it that while WAP is not necessary if CDMA is the way into the internet, that web surfing is?

Or is it that i mode permits access to content directly without involving the web or internet at all, i.e. it is provided by DoCoMo separate from the web or internet?
