Oil companies are selling energy. Think if Exxon, for example, came up with a cheap, non polluting source of energy that had more energy than oil. Being #1, the profits would be mind boggling. This reminds me of the decades of the rumor that the big three auto makers had a carburetor that raised horse power and got 100 miles per gallon.
