More info on BRAD (again interesting reading):
"Bradlees (BRAD: news, msgs) surged 38 percent Friday, building on a plus 70 percent gain Thursday. The stock may be reacting to a SmartMoney.com article published Wednesday that puts forth the notion that the Braintree, Mass., retailer may be a takeover target. In addition, Bradlees reported a 1.4 percent drop in September same-store sales Thursday morning. Total sales for the five weeks ended September 30 rose 2 percent to $132.5 million from $129.9 million in the same period a year earlier. The SmartMoney.com article mentions Home Depot (HD: news, msgs), Kohl's (KSS: news, msgs) and Ames Department Stores (AMES: news, msgs) as possible suitors, noting that Bradlees could be bought outright or sold off in pieces. A Bradlees spokesperson declined comment on the movement in the stock Thursday. The shares rose 75 cents to $2.75."
