Re: the Dramurai will try and do what they can to "get along" (they do need RMBS engineering support to launch their products).

Rambus engineering support hasn't been doing Intel, etc. much good. They've gone from dominating the chipset industry with a huge market share to a struggling number 2. If Rambus ever makes any real money it will be off the engineering work done by JEDEC on SDRAM and DDR. Rambus may or may not have gotten an obvious patent by the examiners, but they have never demonstrated any real engineering ability. Their designs are much more expensive and much less robust than their competition's. Nobody needs any engineering support from Rambus - a good thing, since they have almost none to offer.

With Intel openly developing DDR chipsets, and a history of threats and lawsuits from Rambus, RDRAM is almost certainly not going to be a part of the computer industry's future.

As far as Rambus "engineering support" is concerned, any company that lets Rambus anywhere near any of its development projects would have to be insane. Rambus would just once again try to submarine a patent covering some obvious aspect of the design so that they could blackmail the companies that actually design and build working products.
